TYVY: So I did a thing last week…I ran my first 5K! 💫
So I did a thing last week…I ran my first 5K! 💫
What started in May 2024 as a simple goal - to build up to running a mile -turned into a bigger challenge: run a full 5K.
A year later, I did it. Last Tuesday, I crossed the finish line at Prospect Park. It wasn’t easy (hello, continuous rolling hills 😅), but I finished in 33 minutes -7 minutes faster than I expected.
And it was one of the most exhausting and exhilarating feelings I had crossing that finish line. I finally felt that "runner's high" at that last 0.1 mile to get to the finish line that I just sprinted!
Over the past year, running became more than just a way to stay active, it became part of my mental reset, especially as I transitioned out of corporate and into building my own business. It gave me space to think, reflect, and often…come up with some of my best creative ideas.
Running - like building a business, comes with hard days.
It's taught me to show up, push through, and trust my instincts during those harder days.
There are days I’m not fast and not confident. But I stick to the plan, stay persistent, and take it one step, one breath at a time.
I’ve still got a few more milestones to go before I launch TYVY, but I’m getting there.
So grateful to Lakshman Nathan, Sylvia Lee and Michael Koon for supporting me on this running adventure! Next up…maybe a 10K? :)
What keeps you going when the road gets tough? Would love to hear below.
