How It All Started

It started with my own struggle. On my way home from the office one winter evening in 2023, I was grappling with my heavy, overflowing work bag. We had just returned to hybrid work post-COVID, which meant lugging my laptop, chargers, cables, and daily essentials back and forth. My sleek, minimalist bag that I had for years looked great and had worked prior to hybrid work mode, but now it lacked the organization I needed. Instead of feeling put together, I was hauling around a cluttered black hole on my shoulder, and the weight was taking a toll! 

As I walked through the streets of New York City, I noticed I wasn’t the only one. Women everywhere were commuting with at least two, sometimes three, bags—one for work, another for workouts, and a third for personal essentials. As a working mom who also traveled for work, I understood the challenge firsthand. Between work, family life, and trying to squeeze in a workout, the endless shuffle of bags just didn’t make sense.

When my work travel increased, things weren’t any better. My go-to travel tote, while lightweight, lacked compartments and wasn’t practical for business trips. I constantly switched bags to make it work, but nothing truly fit my needs. I searched high and low for the perfect lightweight work bag—something effortlessly chic yet functional. But every option was either too plain, too bulky, or lacked durability.

That’s when I had my aha moment (literally as I was walking home from the office!): Why not create a versatile bag starting with travel in mind but would extend to work, gym and really everyday life? A bag that’s stylish yet practical, thoughtfully designed to keep up with women juggling careers, families, and adventures. 

And so, TYVY was born—blending urban chic style with functional organization—stylish, functional bags for work and travel designed to simplify life on the go. A bag that transitions seamlessly from office to airport to everyday errands. Lightweight, stylish, and made for modern women on the move. And that’s where my journey to design the perfect travel-work hybrid bag began.
